History
 Hugh D. Merrill founded the law firm in the early 1900's. He was an attorney as well as a former Lt. Governor of Alabama, a member of the Alabama House of Representatives and an upstanding, much beloved Judge. The tradition that began over 100 years ago continues today. Mr. Merrill believed that all people should be afforded the opportunity to be represented by a lawyer. Criminals should be punished while the innocent should not. He was an Anniston Lawyer who set the foundation for fair, honest and aggressive legal representation for all citizens. His son, Hugh D. Merrill, Jr. continued the family legacy. He quickly became a noted trial lawyer and public servant, serving 23 years in the Alabama House of Representatives where he became Chairman of the powerful Ways & Means committee.
